December Update

Things here at Collier-Seminole State Park are going very well and we have a great group of Camp Host and volunteers both in the campground and the Maintenance compound. We have been doing a lot of sightseeing on our days off . Gwen is looking forward to going to Napkes downtown and seeing all the Christmas lights in the next few days. There is alot to do and see in this area of Florida.

Have been trying to go to some of the beaches in the area and found one we really like at Lovers Key State Park South beach.  It has a free tram that takes you to the beach and concession stands and chair and beach umbrella rentals. Gwen picked up a few shells while we where there but did not find many good ones. Hope to get back there in the next week .

As everyone knows my favorite hobby is  eating and there are just to many places here to try them all but we are working on it. Have had some great fool .But still have not found a Cheesesteak like they have up North but I will keep looking.

We hit a big bump last week started having problems with our vehicle . To make a long story short it died a slow death. RIP PT Cruiser.  So off we went to find a car. Ending up buying a new to us 2017 Nissan Sentra.  We are really happy with it .

Hope all our friends and family have a good Christmas and Happy New Year. We will miss seeing  everyone.

Collier-Seminole State Park

Week three here at Collier-Seminole State Park and we are doing good. Have been doing a lot of sightseeing around the surrounding areas.  There is a lot to do and see here and we have been staying busy.  Naples is really nice and has almost anything we can ask for.  Still looking for a Nouthern style cab cake but not having much luck on that. We still have not had a beach day yet but hoping to do it in the next week are so.

Now the the weather has gotten a little cooler it has been really nice outside . The Campground is starting to get busy with the Snow Birds starting to show up. It is getting harder to get a camp site in Florida now that a lot a camper are coming down for the winter.  There are still some good spots but they are getting harder to find.

There are two other couples here as Camp host and another couple is supposed to be here at anytime.  Also have a couple and a single guy staying in the Maintenance yard. The weekends can get really busy but so for we have been able to handle it with out too many problem . For the most part the staff here are great to work with . Our schedule is a little different from anywhere we have camp hosted before, we are now on a 9 day stretch off.  Hard to get used to having that many days off but we are not complaining.

Thanksgiving is coming up fast and we already have two dinners to go to. One of them is at the Indian Village across the street from the park and we are really looking forward to that one. The other one is here at the park. I am sure I will eat way to much.

Not much else to report so for now Murphys out.

Collier-Seminole State Park.

We got to Collier-Seminole State Park on the 23rd of this month and are all set up and getting settled  in. We will be Camp Hosting here until the end of March and enjoying the warmer weather for the winter. We have not done a lot of sightseeing yet but will be doing a lot as soon as we get our schedule as to when we are working and what days we have off. Collier-Seminole State Park is beautiful State Park just South of Naples FL.

There is a lot of wild life to be seen in the park but so far the only thing we have seen are gator. We where down at the boat launch and saw 5 at one time. Side note not putting my feet in the water here. they say that there is also Black Bear, Panther and all kinds of snakes ( hoping not to see them ) big and small.

Gwen is very happy because we are only about 10 minutes from Walmart and about every restaurant that you can think of is near buy. Guess I know where I will be spending a lot of my time.

Here are a few picture of the park that we have taken since we have been here.

Rainbow Springs State Park.

We where evacuated from Ochlockonee River State Park today so we will be here at Rainbow Springs State Park for a couple days before heading South again. The trip was not bad but it rained all the way and is still raining tonight. Guess it will be like that tomorrow also. Hoping to get out and see a little more of the park before we have to leave. Will be posting some pictures now the we have cell signal again.

Dog Days of Summer

We are half way thru our second month here at Ochlockonee River State Park and boy has it been hot. This is the first time we have been in Florida this early and it takes some getting used to. We are going good and having fun so I guess the is all that matters.

We have been on a few day trips and spent the day at the beach on St. George inland.  They also have a nice campground that we did not know was there.

The girls are having it ruff as you can see they have to take lots of naps.

I still have not found a cheese steak like they have up North but I will not give up on it.

Took the boat ride at Wakulla Springs and had a great time and got to see lots of gators.

We have been having a tuff time here with internet and cell service  so some of our post may late showing up but will update as often as possible.

St Mark

Went for a little ride to St Mark Light House. Nice view of the bays and gulf coast. Still have not seen a alligator or bear here yet maybe later. The weather has been very hot the last few days so we have been just taking it easy and taking short day tips. Yet again we are at a campground where cell service and internet is poor at best. We will post when ever we can.

We spotted this white deer and her fawn  in our park . Will be trying to get a few better pictures soon.

Guess that is all for now so we are out.
