Travel Update

Looks like we will be leaving Jane's Island State Park one day early trying to beat the pending Strom coming up the cosst. Our trip trip south is not off to a good start with all this bad weather. Hope everyone the a coast stays safe.

Texas Trip Update

One week from today we will be headed out for our trip to Texas where we will Camp Hosting for a couple of months. On the way we will be spending two weeks at Big Meadows Camp Ground on Skyline Drive VA. We are looking forward to seeing the fall colors. From there we will move on to Knoxville Tenn. where we plan on staying a couple days before moving on. After that we have not made any plans, I will drive 4 to 5 hours each day and then stay over for a day or two. We have allowed about 2 week to make it to Texas. On the way we will pass thru Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. When we finish up Hosting in Texas we will be off to the Grand Canyon Arizona if all go as planned. We will sure miss our friend at Janes Island State Park in Maryland, if you have never been there you will have to give it a try it is a great place to spend the weekend or a week. The staff are very friendly and the Parks is one of the cleanest we have been to. Looking forward to return next spring.
Today I finally got around to installing a set of awning lights that we order online. The ones we looked at at the Hershery Park RV in PA. where over one hundred dollars so I decided to look online and found the one I installed for $29.00 + shipping. They where easy to install and work great. I will say the the double sided tape on the back is not the best but if you clean the surface good before you install it should stick ok.
                                                                          

The lights come with a 44 button remote and give you a lot of options as far as changing colors and brightness. It only took about two hours to install. I installed the controller and power supply on the inside of the 5th wheel and ran the remote eye on the outside thru a small hole on the side.

   
So far they are working great will update after we have had a little time to try all the different lighting modes to see what ones we like the best.

Some of the other updates we have made to the 5th wheel to get ready for the trip is added a new bike rack to the rear bumper, new tires and spare, New tire on truck and added a 5000 pound Super Spring Installed  new muffler pipe for the generator and a good wash and wax job, so I think we are ready. I will try to post pictures and updates along the way as long as I can get signal for internet. Not sure how the Hot Spot is going to work in the mountains of Skyline Dr. VA. will have to see. Winter down South

We are busy getting the rig ready ready for the trip south for the winter.  Putting on new tires, servicing the generator and trying to make more room in the main compartment.  We are headed to Texas for a couple months and then going to the Grand Canyon AZ. Hoping that there will not as many people there as in the spring and summer months. Mapping out the routes  and planning on where stay has been the hardest part to many places we want to see along the way. We will be headed out in 4 week.

Fast Summer

It has been a fast summer for Gwen and I and a lot of things have happend , some good and bad. The good is that we sold the motor home the got  new to us 5th wheel anf F250 truck.  Also we have been planinng to go to Texas for the winter where we will be camp host for three months. Then will be headed to the Grand Canyon before coming back to the East Coast. We will also be spending a couple weeks at Big Meadows on Skyline Drive VA. With our good friends Vince and Nancy who also camp host with us at Janes Island State Park in Crisfield MD.

Now for the bad my sister and I lost our dad this past Father's day. He had been sick for a long time and went down hill fast. He will be missed.

We are enjoying our time here at Janes Island State Park as we always do. We have had  a lot of good cook outs and made some good friends. Guess that is why we come back every year. We will be busy getting the rig ready for the trip South in the next few week getting new tires for the 5th wheel and seeing that everything is in good working order. I will be updating and posting pictures as often as possible. 

July update

We are back at Janes Island State Park and having a great time. A couple we meet last year are here Camp Hosting with us . We have spent a lot of time here this summer and have made a lot of good friends. Will be sorry to see the summer end, but then we will be off for a new adventure. We will be in Skyline Drive with our friends for a few week and then we are off to Texas where we be staying for the winter. Looking forward to be headed to a campground/resort that we have never been. Will update soon.

Air Show

We made it to Ocean City MD. today to watch the Blue Angels practice for the air show it weekend. They always put on a good show. There was a lot of people on the beach and the weather could not have been any better. I try to take some pictures with my phone but the camera is not that great . Will upload some from my good camera  to my Google Plus page and here. Still having s great time at Assateague Island National Sea Shore and have some friends here for 2 weeks.

Out our widow

This was the view from our  site this morning a few  locals just hanging out. The park ranger told us there is a new baby foal just a few months here on the island . I will try to get a picture if possible.

Last day at Janes Island State Park

Today is the last day for us at Janes Island tomorrow we go to Assateague Island National Sea Shore. We have had a great 3 months . The weather the last few weeks has been perfect. We have finally gotten things put away in the 5 wheel and found a place for all the junk we had in the motor home. Not sure we need  so much. Looking forward to our month stay at Assateague.

Camp Hosting update

Things have been crazy for us over the last few months and we have not had a lot of time to update the site. We are still Hosting at Janes Island State Park but will be leaving at the end of the month for Assateague Island National Sea Shore. We sold our motor home and now have a 32 foot 5th wheel and Ford diesel truck. We like having  the extra room with the 3 side outs. Will post some pics soon. We are starting to moon at some sites down south for the winter after last winter we have had itwith the cold weather.  Will try to update every few days if possible

2015 Camping Season

Have not posted in a while have had a lot going on. We try to update things soon. We will be headed to Janes Island State Park in March. I will be doing all the camp hosting duties Gwen is still having problems with her back. I am looking forward to to warmer weather and getting back in the motor home. We will be mostly here on the east coast this year as we are still dealing with 2 older parents that are not in good health. Just had to put my dad in nursing home. Hope to have a little better WIFI this year I am still working on that. See you on the road.

Back at Janes Island

We have been back at Janes Island  State Park for about a month but have not had a lot of time to post. Not  a lot new to report and due to the lack of WiFi have not uploaded pictures in a while hope it will be fixed soon. I did manage to get to go fishing with Stew on his time off. He got the only keeper a nice trout.

Assateague Island update

Things here at Assateague Island National Park are going great we are on our 3rd week as camp host. We still have not gotten any pictures of the now 4 month old pony but we have seen it just did not have the camera wirh us at the time. Hoping to get a shot of it before we leave for Janes Island State Park. There is no Wifi here on the island yet so will try to update by phone as much as possible.

Assateague Update

We have left Janes Island State Park and are now at Assateague Island National Park. We will try to update and add a few new pictures in the next few days.

Camping 2014

We will be camp hosting at Janes Island  State  Park  and Assateague Island State and Natiomal Parks this summer. We are looking foward to meeting up with some friends with have met over the last few years.

Janes Island update

Our first  week at Janes Island State Park has gone by fast.  The park was full for the holiday weekend but now things are back to normal. The weather has been great with nice cool nights and warm days. Things are starting to change in the park with big plans for a lot of improvements with a addition to the camp store, new parking lot, remodeled bath house and remodeled cabins. The park should have a new look next spring. We can not wait to see all the improvements.

We have had a great time this summer camp hosting at the different parks. Maybe by next sping Gwens back will be better and we can head alittle more west. But for now back to doing what I do best (nothing).

Back in Maryland

We made the trip back from Virginia yesterday and had a good day for the most part. The traffic was not all the bad and made the trip in a little under 3 hours. We are now back at Janes Island State Park for another month of camp hosting. There are a lot of things going on in town this weekend and lots of food to be had, hoping to have time to take a little of the fun in.  We will be busy with the holiday weekend coming up so may not get to update the site for a few days but will give it our best. Hoping to have time to get in a little fishing and crabbing this month, will see what happens. The Hot Spot is working a lot better than it did in Virginia, lots better signal. Camp WIFI sucks here it is satellite internet and it is slowwwwwwwwww. Got to get back to what I no best (doing nothing)!

Week 3 at Prince William Forest NP

We are coming to the end of week 3 here a Prince William Forest NP. We have not been that busy the last week because there have been no camper in our cabin camp. So we had have a lot of time to ride the fire roads and do a little hiking. I have also been doing a little work around the camp mostly painting the signs on the cabin and bath houses. We where able to take a little day trip to Skyline Drive and look around. We where hoping to see a black bear but did not get to see one on this trip. We will be having camper come back in this weekend so I spend the day today making sure the cabins where ready and getting things stocked up. Going to be a easy weekend campers only here for two days and there are only 4 of them in our cabin camp ( camp holds 150 people when full ).

We have been hearing reports of a black bear in the park and a lot of people have stated that they have seen signs of the bear but there has been no sighting of it yet. The park service is going to give us some trail cameras to put out so maybe we can a picture of it. There was a large Black Bear spotted in the park last year with two cubs, so we know they are around here some where. While we where in the back of camp today seeing it we could find and more signs of the bear Gwen spotted a Bobcat running in the woods, he was to fast for me to get a picture maybe next time. Hoping to get to walk a trail we found today that leads to a little lake not far from camp.

We will be leaving here to head back to Janes Island State Park on the 29th to host for the month of September and then we will be headed to Shad Landing State Park for the month of October. Hoping to get to do a little crabbing and fishing  and get back on my diet, I have been eating a little more than I should and might have gained a few pounds back so will have to work a little harder to take them back off. Life is a Bitch!

Prince William Forest Va.

We will be Camp Hosting at Prince William Forest  National Park in the month of August. We  are looking foward to hosting there.
